Our school will be celebrating a big birthday this year and we hope that you will share in our jubilations.
The original South Wellfield County Primary School first opened its doors to students in 1954, making this year our 70th birthday! We hope to have a showcase event to celebrate this milestone, with stories, photos and records of the school shared later this school-year – but we need your help!
As families and friends of Wellfield, we are sure that you have many memories to share. We know that lots of you attended our school and we even know of a grandparent or two who taught here many years ago! We would love to collect copies of any:
Photographs of the building
Photographs of your time here – either as a student or member of staff
Any old books that you have – it would be great to photocopy old schoolwork and compare it to today’s schoolwork!
Memories of your time here – you may even be willing to share these on the day or write them down for us to display
Any other historical pieces of interest – e.g. newspaper clippings of a victorious Wellfield topping the League or an old-style jumper!
Maybe you are or know of an ex-pupil who has gone on to fame in their line of work. It would be great to be inspired by stories of success!
Please note that any materials relating to the school will be cared for and copies made for the showcase display.
Our students will be carrying out some research using the National Archives, learning about the school’s past and their work will also be shared in birthday celebrations.
In order to make a showcase event possible, we are depending on your expert help. Please send any materials relating to the above to sam.edmundson@
Thank you for your help!
